What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment offers high school students the opportunity to
enroll in college courses and receive college credit while pursuing
their high school diploma. Courses are offered in a variety of
disciplines and fields, including general education and career
pathway courses that align with local industry. Students take these
courses online through the community college or university and have
access to the TN State Dual Enrollment Grant to receive up to 5 free
Dual Enrollment courses. These courses are intended to help prepare
students for the rigor of college and get a head start on their undergraduate degree.

Benefits of Dual Enrollment

Students will:

• have an opportunity to earn high school and college credits simultaneously

• gain an early start on achieving an Associate or Bachelors degree

• save money as these classes are offered for FREE for our students

• have the ability to explore various career pathways and majors before enrolling in college full-time

• be able to enter an accelerated pathway through college that saves students time and money

• build self-confidence in one’s ability to do college-level work helping to ease the transition to college

• have an opportunity to address skill gaps and improve study skills and academic knowledge before becoming a full-time college student
